MIKI HOUSE Shoes Instructions Guide

MIKI HOUSE Shoes Instructions Guide

For best use, please read this guide before use. Please keep this guide for future reference.

~ Introduction ~

Baby feet are largely made of cartilage, and therefore are both delicate and prone to change while growing. The feet do not complete their growth until about age 18. Continuously wearing ill-fitting shoes during this time can not only interfere with growth in the feet, but in the entire body as well. MIKI HOUSE has been creating shoes that support healthy growth and walking for years. Let's begin with choosing the best shoes for your child's growth.

1) MIKI HOUSE Shoes

To support the healthy growth and walking of your child, we have cultivated the features described below, and created a wide range of shoes to accommodate their needs.

Shape Design

Shaped to have enough room in the toes, so they can use their toes to grip the ground as they walk.

Counter

Supports and protects the fragile ankle from impact, prevents leaning, and increases sense of unity with the shoes for stable walking.

Toe Spring

The toe is slightly upturned to prevent tripping.

Flex Sole

Designed to match the natural curve of the foot. Helps promote smooth walking, as well as shaping the arch of the foot.

Adjustable Strap

Strap securely fits feet of all different heights, widths and shapes.

*Some products may not come with all features.

How to Measure Your Child's Foot

First Shoes (Sizes 11cm - 13.5cm)

1st Shoes are designed to soundly support your toddling baby through their clumsiness as they explore. Using comfortable materials, a design that gently wraps around your baby's feet, and a slightly upturned sole, these shoes will promote natural, healthy walking.

Second Shoes (Sizes 13cm - 15.5 cm)

Second Shoes are for babies who have just begun to run and jump, expanding their world around them. In comparison to First Shoes, the sole is much thicker, and features additional reinforcement on the toes and sides, all designed to protect the feet from impact. We also carry shoes in our lineup that feature anti-slip design with sole grips, and shoes that use athletic-shoes technology such as highly cushioned soles.

Kids Shoes (Sizes 15cm - 21cm)

Our Kids Shoes include a wide variety of designs, such as casual, sporty, or formal, that fit a multitude of occasions. Materials, sole structure, instep fit, etc., may vary from item to item. Please wear the appropriate shoe for each occasion.

2) How to Choose

Please try the shoes on both feet and have your child walk around for the most accurate fit. Even if two shoes are labeled as the same size, depending on the design and material, there may be a degree of difference in comfort. Keep in mind fit, movability, and comfort when choosing the best shoe. There should be just enough room for the toes that they can still move inside the shoe. When fitting, make sure the ankle is placed correctly, then firmly secure the foot with the strap, and make sure the foot does not move back and forth inside the shoe.

  • Children's feet grow very rapidly. Generally, by the time they are 2 years old, their feet will grow about a centimeter per year. Because of this, shoes that fit perfectly at first may quickly become too small. Please measure their feet about every 3 months, and choose sizes accordingly.
  • Continuously wearing ill-fitting shoes may interfere with growth, or result in scratches, calluses, and other injuries.
  • Since each child has unique feet and walking styles, please refrain from passing down shoes that have molded to the previous wearer.

3) Maintenance and Care

Maintenance methods will differ depending on the upper (the part of the shoe above the sole). For best use, please use the correct maintenance method for your shoe.

Cloth Shoes (Natural Fibers, Polyester and other Synthetic Fibers)

a) How to Wash

  • Hand wash with a neutral detergent in cold or warm water, using a soft brush.
  • To prevent discoloration, please avoid alkaline detergents (shoe detergents) and overly strong detergents.
  • To avoid discoloration, do not directly apply detergent to the shoes.
  • Residual detergent can cause yellowing and discoloration. Please rinse thoroughly.
  • Soaking or use of bleach will cause discoloration.
  • Using the washing machine may cause damage to the material.

b) How to Dry

  • Shoes left wet or damp may result in water stains, discoloration and/or color transfers.
  • After washing, please gently mold the shoes into shape, blot dry with a dry cloth, stuff the shoe with white paper for structure, and let completely dry in a shady place with air flow.
  • Please note that colorful and dark-colored shoes are most prone to discoloration and color transfers.
  • If not rinsed properly, residual detergent, etc. may show up on the surface. Please wash again as soon as possible if this occurs.
  • Please avoid direct sunlight, drying machines, heaters, and hair dryers as means of faster drying. These methods can end in discoloration, deterioration, and water stains.

Synthetic Leather Shoes

  • Avoid washing. Washing may cause deterioration.
  • Please wipe any external dirt and impurities with a damp cloth.
  • For stubborn impurities, use an appropriate cleaner.
  • For suede shoes, please brush gently to remove dirt and dust.
  • If wet from rain, etc., please blot dry with a dry cloth, stuff the shoe with white paper for structure, and let completely dry in a shady place with air flow.
  • No need for leather oils or conditioners.
  • Please note that this material may scratch easily.
  • Water vapor and UV rays will naturally deteriorate the material (peeling, stickiness, hardening, cracking, etc.) Please note that these are naturally occurring reactions to expect over time.

Natural Leather (Cowhide, etc.)

  • Avoid washing. Washing may cause deterioration and discoloration.
  • Please use appropriate cleaners to remove any dirt or dust as soon as possible to avoid stains and discoloration.
  • For suede shoes, please brush gently to remove dirt and dust.
  • Use appropriate creams/conditioners to maintain and avoid dirt/scratches.
  • If wet from rain, etc., please blot dry with a dry cloth, stuff the shoe with white paper for structure, let completely dry in a shady place with air flow, and apply leather cream.
  • Wetness, sweat and friction can cause discoloration.
  • Please note that color transfers onto light-colored socks and clothes may occur.
  • Fading may naturally occur over time.

4) Storage

  • Shoes may deteriorate in storage. To avoid deterioration, avoid high temperatures, high humidity, and direct sunlight when storing.
  • Do not store in cars. Please note that car trunks can be particularly hot temperatures.
  • Do not store in plastic bags.
  • Shoes in prolonged storage can suffer from deterioration. Please check for the following before use.
  • Has any deterioration (peeling, stickiness, hardening, cracking, etc.) occurred to the upper (the part of the shoe above the sole)?
  • Is the fastener still effective?
  • Has any deterioration (peeling, stickiness, hardening, cracking, etc.) occurred to the sole?

    5) Other Precautions

    • If warning labels on individual products differ from this pamphlet, please follow instructions on the label.
    • Please stop using immediately if itching or rashes occur.
    • Soles are not oil resistant. Please avoid oiled surfaces.
    • Use caution on slippery surfaces such as wet surfaces, frozen surfaces, manhole covers, tile and marble floors. Please note that moving from dry surfaces to wet surfaces is particularly dangerous.
    • Please note that placing shoes by fires may cause softening or deterioration.
    • Please secure the feet snugly with the strap or fastener to avoid danger or falling. Failure to do so may result in shoes falling off during wear.
    • Please stop using if the fastener loses traction. Traction may decrease after long use, excess heat, lint/dirt accumulation, or excess wetness.
    • When putting the shoe on, please spread the opening wide before inserting foot. Avoid stepping on the heel. Doing so may cause the counter to break, change shape, or rip, which may cause injuries.

    • Friction and sweating during wear may cause minor discoloration. Light-colored socks in particular may experience color transfer.
    • Not intended for sports use. Please avoid severe abrasion or impact.
    • Insoles are sold separately. Insoles can be tried on during shoe fitting. Insoles may not be provided for shoes made with special cup insoles, or shoes with different inside dimensions. Please inquire at our boutique for more details.
    • New shoes, as well as sandals and boots at the beginning of each season, may cause blisters, abrasions, etc. Please break in gradually for best comfort.
